The Well Dressed Man

Why dress well? Today is a time of comfort, relaxation, and pleasure, so why not wear the clothes to match it? Does we dress? Who cares? One can hold this outlook, however, let’s look into the past to see how others thought.

Augustus of Prima Porta (1st century AD) artist unknown

Napoleon Crossing the Alps (1801) Jacques-Louis David

Theodore Roosevelt: ‘It is not the critic who counts’, Citizenship in a Republic speech - 1910

Hitler’s birthday gift on his 50th birthday: a convertible Volkswagen. Even the bad boys were well dressed 😉.

They all seem to have a different interpretion, why? Maybe what we wear matters. Maybe our actions change based on the manner we present.

Who are we? Are we here on this Earth to merely exist, or are we here to conquer? In your blood lies that of great warriors, of mighty kings. Your heritage demands excellence, so why not show your forefathers your worth? Besides, when we rebuild this nation, let us do it in style.

The Foundation

Dressing up on a regular basis can be nerve-wracking (trust me, I’ve been there). Here are the basics of what I wear everyday.

I am already quite impressed with the way men dress at this school, and it is rapidly growing everyday. This article was never meant to tear you down, but to raise you up for this country needs you to be great.

Also, let me just say, no it is not gay as a man to talk about clothing. However, if you walk up to me with pink polka dots, then we will have a problem. If ever in need of help, you’re always welcome to swing by.

The Foundation

The baseline of any of my outfits begin with these four things (I hope you can forgive the homemade pictures).

button-up shirt, slacks belt, shoes

Shirts and Pants

When picking out shirts and pants, start with classics. This clothing should be able to be worn in any setting.

The color palette is tans, navies, grays, and blacks. If you have never dressed up before except for interviews and weddings, these colors are a great place to start.

I find the name brand is not that important. What matters most is its quality, fit, and coordination with the rest of the outfit. If you want to buy a more expensive piece make sure it’s for the look and the quality, not just the name.

For everyday wear, I recommend machine washable shirts and pants. While there is a time and place for dry-cleaned clothing, it much easier and less expensive to wash your own clothes.

Shoes and Belts

Plenty to talk about on shoes however to keep it short and sweet, shoes do matter. The quickest ways to bring down an outfit is wearing the wrong shoes.

Nice shoes are long term purchases. Even if worn often, shoes can last 5-10 years as long as they are properly maintained. If you ever start thinking about nicer shoes check out DSW for great discounts.

Belts are a great addition which add some design to the pants. As a general guideline, try to match the belt with the shoes.

The key is to take it slow. Gradually add a few pieces to avoid a heart attack.

You can do it, it just takes commitment as well as a good bit of trial and error. Also, the ladies will love it!

Is This Art?

One of the concerns I have at Lehigh is our current artwork around campus. This modern artwork doses not seem to be a positive trend forward.

Let’s check out a few pieces:

Where has our beauty gone, where is our talent from a bygone era? Our art is now barren, lifeless, and unable to draw forth deep passions of the heart. How can one look at this and call it beautiful?

David (1501-1504) Michelangelo

The Thinker (1904) Auguste Rodin

The Darker Side

If you filled out the survey for the University Center you may have seen that I made a remark on the art at the UC.

Check these out right by the Help Desk. Is it just me, or do these paintings truly look demonic. Why are they displayed at our school for all to see?

Another telling art piece is that right outside of Rauch: a picture of a bull, in front of a decaying wall. Everything about this piece just seems wrong and unnatural. Am I alone?

From the Bible, Baal, the Canaanite god of fertility and storms, is often depicted as half-man, half-bull. Worship often included child sacrifice, mutilation, and sexual perversion, which is not the a great symbol to be seen on one of the main roads of the Lehigh campus.

Check out the stories of the cleansing of the temple by Jehu and the showdown between Elijah and the prophets of Baal in the Old Testament.

Maybe it’s just a coincidence, so call me conspiracy theorist or pseudo scientist all you want, I am just calling out a trend.

Equality at School

Oh no, this one might get me in trouble. 😏

I am a TA for Accounting, and we have to do training on harassment and tolerance. The training is about an hour, but halfway through I get a twenty minute lecture on antisemitism. Why don’t employees not get a lecture about being anti-Christian. The school has no problem allowing people to mock and condemn Christians, but mention Jews at all, and you are in the doghouse.

It’s not just Christians, even the Muslims on campus cannot talk about what is going on in Israel without being sent off to the gulag. I did learn however that antisemitism was up 700% since October 7th, I wonder why?

Student Population

Is there a double standard. Jews are only the 2% of the country, but 18% at the school. Before you tell you me Judaism is a religion and not an ethnicity, the state of Israel demands blood tests for citizenship.

Certainly if there were too many Asians or Whites at this school you would hear them toot the horn of discrimination. A 900% overrepresentation should merit some sort of response from the diversity police. Let’s call a spade a spade. If you are going to preach equality, then let us all be equal without exception.

The Fight Continues

The school is trying a different angle. They threatened expulsion, next a law suit and now they are trying to convince my parents I’m mentally unstable. It is laughable that the school will not take ownership of their own problems. Who knows when they will be ready to talk, in the meantime we’ll have to fix it ourselves.

Other News

  1. Thursday morning, on my way to Rauch I was surprised to find how immaculate the street way. and quite surprised. Usually there is trash everywhere, and I have pick it up myself. Whoever did this, thank you for keeping Lehigh clean.

  2. I went to STEPS to do some work, and while there, the police came by with a stretcher to rescue a poor girl. I do not know what happened and have no intention to pry, but please keep her in your prayers.

  3. If you have been the recipient of one of my notes please don’t take them the wrong way. Turns up I had a police report filed on me for harassment and stalking. Whoever you are, l hate to burst your bubble, but I am far to busy to be spending stalking you. Besides, I am a Catholic miss. I save myself for marriage, so you’ll need my ring on your finger first.

  4. Last night up, at Mountain Top. I attended the mentioned earlier hoedown setup by Miss Macdonald and Miss Jurek. With plenty of dancing, music, and festivities, it was quite a enjoyable night. Those men who were too cool to attend, truly missed for a women that can dance is quite attractive.
